BOOK A CONSULTATION
This treatment pathway begins with a detailed history and physical examination, full diagnostic initial blood testing and detailed discussion of the Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT) options Healand offers. Blood samples will be taken as part of your consultation. If you are aged 50 years or over, a digital rectal examination (DRE) of the prostate must be performed. A testicular exam will also be carried out, along with measurement of your vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate etc). If this is the first time, you’re having blood drawn to assess your hormone levels, the British Society for Sexual Medicine (BSSM) guidelines state that a confirmatory blood test 4 weeks after initial testing must be performed before TRT can be commenced.
The Evolt 360 Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA) scanner is available for use after your appointment to enable us to understand your body composition baseline. This scanner has near equivalency to what is considered the gold standard of body composition scanning, which is called DEXA. The scan results will provide insight into your current physiological health status. We will then be able to use this information to track your progression and set goals for your treatment journey with Healand. You will have free access to the Evolt+ app on your smartphone which stores your scans and gives recommendations on exercise, supplementation and nutrition based on your personal goals. A repeat scan will take place each year at your annual follow up in clinic.
The initial appointment on Pathway A should take around 60 minutes. You may experience some pain from the extraction of the blood sample, but this should be short-lived. There may also be some discomfort during the digital rectal examination - again, short lived.
